Tyrese Gibson Wanted on Animal-Cruelty Charge as Police Say He Hasn’t Turned Himself In

Police say repeated complaints plus security video underpin the case.

Overview

  • Fulton County issued an arrest warrant after a Sept. 18 incident in which four Cane Corsos allegedly killed a neighbor’s 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry, who suffered puncture wounds, broken ribs and internal bleeding.
  • Animal Services reports five prior complaints in the 10 days before the attack about the large dogs roaming, with multiple warnings given to Gibson.
  • Gibson initially agreed on Sept. 22 to surrender the dogs, then asked for more time; police obtained search and arrest warrants that night, but he and the animals were not at the property.
  • Capt. Nicole Dwyer says Gibson missed a deadline to turn himself in and has known about the warrant for more than a week, while the warrant remains active.
  • Gibson’s attorney says he rehomed the dogs, was away when the attack occurred, has offered condolences to the family and is cooperating, as investigators continue to frame the matter as a community safety concern.
