Tyre Burst Suspected in Mahoba Crash That Killed Five on Srinagar-Belatal Road

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched an investigation into vehicle malfunctions following the collision that killed five on Monday

  • Five people died and three sustained critical injuries when a speeding car collided head-on with a motorcycle near Nanoura village on the Srinagar-Belatal road around 1:30 pm on Monday.
  • The deceased have been identified as Bharatlal (35), Ajay (18), Sanjeev (22), Vinod (27) and Rampal (31); the injured – Khushi, Udaybhan and Ankit – are receiving treatment at the district government hospital.
  • Police say the car was carrying six passengers returning from a family function in Bagroun village when a suspected tyre burst led it to veer off course and drag the motorcycle nearly 20 metres before both vehicles plunged into a roadside ditch.
  • Uttar Pradesh Police have sent the victims’ bodies for post-mortem as part of an investigation ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
  • Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed authorities to ensure immediate and proper medical care for the injured.
