Overview

  • As of Friday, the storm was near Minamidaitō moving at about 20 km/h with central pressure around 1000–1004 hPa, sustained winds of 18–20 m/s and gusts up to 25–35 m/s within a strong-wind radius of roughly 220 km.
  • Forecasts indicate closest approach to Amami around Saturday morning, with conditions deteriorating across Amami and southern Kyushu through Saturday into Sunday.
  • JMA projects 24‑hour rainfall up to about 200 mm in southern Kyushu and 150 mm in Amami, with wave heights of 4–6 m in Amami and around 5 m off Okinawa and southern Kyushu, increasing coastal and storm‑surge hazards.
