Typhoon Matmo Makes Landfall in Guangdong as Forecasters See Rapid Weakening

  • The Russian Hydrometcenter reported earlier peak gusts up to 48–53 m/s and now forecasts winds easing to about 23 m/s with gusts to 33 m/s by 03:00 MSK on Oct. 6.
