Tyler Herro Returns With 24, Lifts Heat Past Mavericks 106–102

Herro says he is still rehabbing, highlighting Miami’s effort to fit him into its faster offense.

Overview

  • In his season debut after September ankle surgery, Herro scored 24 points and hit the go-ahead floater in the final minute following Bam Adebayo’s steal of an inbounds pass.
  • Kel’el Ware added 20 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks as Miami won its fifth straight to move to 12-6 overall and 8-1 at home.
  • Herro acknowledged he is not yet fully recovered and will continue rehab after returning earlier than he could have, saying he “still got a long way to go.”
  • The Heat played without Norman Powell (groin), Andrew Wiggins (hip) and Nikola Jovic (hip); an MRI showed Powell’s groin strain is mild and Erik Spoelstra downplayed the concern.
  • Dallas was without Anthony Davis (14th straight game, calf) and Kyrie Irving, as P.J. Washington led the Mavericks with 27 points and rookie Cooper Flagg finished with 12 on 36% shooting.
