Overview
- All I-10 westbound lanes between I-45 and Taylor in Houston will close from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m., then the stretch from I-45 to Houston Avenue will remain narrowed to two lanes through mid-2026.
- The I-10 eastbound connector to I-45 northbound is closing until mid-2028, and the I-45 southbound connector to I-10 westbound, including the HOV lane, is closing until mid-2026; HOV access to and from downtown will continue without a westbound I-10 exit.
- TxDOT’s $400 million White Oak Bayou Elevation Project raises the I-10 main lanes and will lower and reconstruct the Houston Avenue bridge to reduce truck strikes, with that bridge work slated to start in early 2027 and overall completion targeted for 2028.
- The affected I-10 segment in Houston carries more than 200,000 vehicles daily, and TxDOT has posted detours with law enforcement directing traffic during the weekend reconfiguration and subsequent restrictions.
- In San Antonio, all I-10 lanes at Loop 1604 will close from Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m., alongside related frontage road and ramp closures, as part of the $1.4 billion Loop 1604 North Expansion and $463 million interchange replacement.
