Overview

• The interception was conducted using the Policía de la Ciudad’s newly deployed División Anillo Digital live vehicle monitoring system.
• UFI N°3 of the Departamento Judicial de Mercedes confirmed an active seizure order on the Volkswagen Nivus linked to a fraud investigation.
• The drivers attempted to bribe officers to prevent the seizure, and officers documented the offer before arresting them for cohecho.
• Both vehicles and all contents were seized and placed under the control of the Justicia Nacional de Rogatorias and the justice of Mercedes.
• The women remain in custody pending judicial hearings and could face one to six years in prison plus lifelong disqualification from public office if convicted.
