Two West Side Shootings Overnight Leave One Critical, One Wounded

No arrests have been made, with Area Four detectives leading both investigations.

  • In Humboldt Park around 1:45 a.m., a gunman pulled up to a crash scene on the 3800-block of West Chicago Avenue and shot a 22-year-old man multiple times in the chest.
  • The Chicago Fire Department took the 22-year-old to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
  • Police said the Humboldt Park shooter, described only as a male, fled in a vehicle and has not been identified.
  • In East Garfield Park around 10:50 p.m., a 44-year-old man was shot in the ankle during a struggle after an armed robber demanded his belongings on the 3100-block of West Madison Street.
  • The 44-year-old walked into Stroger Hospital in good condition, and detectives from CPD’s Area Four are investigating both incidents with no one in custody.
