- Liam O’Brien, 41, of West Derby in Liverpool, and Robert Taylor, 54, of Wallsend, were arrested on Wednesday at a property in Medellín by Colombia’s national police in coordination with Interpol.
- Colombian authorities released images and surveillance footage on Friday showing the suspects being tailed and detained, with armed officers carrying out the operation.
- Both men remain in custody in Colombia as extradition to the United Kingdom is expected to begin, according to the National Crime Agency.
- O’Brien is accused of multiple conspiracies involving Class A drug supply, firearms offences, money laundering and perverting the course of justice.
- Taylor was wanted by Northumbria Police and had been sentenced in his absence in February 2024 to seven and a half years for drug offences and money laundering.
