Two Trichy Heist Fugitives Caught in Madhya Pradesh, 9.42 Kg of Gold Seized

Tamil Nadu police now move to secure transit custody for questioning.

  • Police identified the arrested men as Mangilal Kanaram, 22, and Vikram Ramniwas Jat, 18–19, both from Jodhpur and linked to the September 13 robbery of a Chennai jeweller in Trichy district.
  • They were detained on October 5 near the Balsamud check post in Sendhwa while attempting to board a bus, in an operation by Sendhwa and Nangalwadi units under Nimar Range supervision.
  • Officers recovered about 9.42 kilograms of gold valued around Rs 10 crore, Rs 3.5 lakh in cash, a country-made pistol and two live cartridges.
  • The seized jewellery was inventoried as 11 gold biscuits plus large quantities of bangles, rings, bracelets and necklaces, tying the haul to the Trichy case.
  • During interrogation, one accused said some gold was melted in Mumbai into biscuits and about Rs 11 lakh was donated to charities and cow shelters, as Tamil Nadu investigators prepare to take custody for further probe.
