Overview

• Investigators say a passenger vehicle traveling west crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Timber Mesa ambulance head-on around 10–10:15 p.m. on Sept. 14.
• The collision occurred near milepost 319 between Heber-Overgaard and Show Low, and all three people involved were pronounced dead at the scene.
• Two victims were on-duty Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District firefighters in the ambulance, and the third was the sole occupant of the other vehicle.
• State Route 260 was closed overnight near Clay Springs for the investigation and reopened just before 6 a.m. the next morning.
