Two Teens Critically Wounded in South Shore Shooting as 12-Year-Old Grazed on West Side

  • Officers responded around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday to the 2200 block of East 67th Street and found a 16-year-old unresponsive outside an apartment building.
  • After canvassing, an 18-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds was located inside an apartment; both teens were taken to UChicago Medicine in critical condition.
  • Two firearms were recovered at the South Shore scene, and Area One detectives are investigating with no arrests announced.
  • In a separate incident just before 7 p.m. Monday on the 900 block of North Leamington Avenue, a 12-year-old riding in a vehicle was grazed in the head.
  • The 12-year-old was taken to Loyola Hospital in fair condition, and police say two persons of interest are in custody as Area 4 detectives investigate.
