Overview

• Victoria Police charged a 19-year-old from Traralgon and a 16-year-old boy with murder and intentionally causing serious injury, with the older teen due in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Monday and the younger before a children’s court.
• Kaiden Morgan, 18, was found with critical injuries about 10:25pm on The Boulevard in Morwell and died in hospital shortly after.
• A second man, 20, was located on a nearby street with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
• Police believe the parties were known to each other and continue to seek dashcam and CCTV footage, with information requested via Crime Stoppers.
• Morgan, a proud Indigenous young man remembered for his cultural leadership, was killed hours after the burial of 15-year-old Dau Akueng in an unrelated machete case, as opposition figures questioned the state response to knife violence.
