Two Teens Arrested as Police Impose Dispersal Order in Bolton Town Centre

Two arrested teens remain under investigation following the overnight use of dispersal powers.

Overview

  • Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of anti-social behaviour and assaults involving a group of up to 60 people in the Market Place area.
  • A Section 34 dispersal order covered the town centre until around 2am Sunday, allowing officers to direct people to leave or face arrest.
  • Riot-trained Tactical Aid Unit officers, several police vehicles and paramedics were concentrated near the McDonald's on Knowsley Street.
  • One 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and another on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and violent disorder.
  • Police said the group dispersed after the order was enforced, no further arrests were made and investigations are ongoing.
