Two Teenage Girls Die in High-Speed Jet Ski Collision on Illinois Lake

Authorities identify victims and continue investigation into fatal crash involving a jet ski and a cabin cruiser.

The victims, aged 13 and 16, were riding a Yamaha jet ski on Lake Marie when it collided with a Sea Ray Cabin Cruiser.
Both girls were knocked unconscious and thrown into the water; they were wearing life vests.
The boat's occupants pulled the girls from the water and rendered aid, but both were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Witnesses reported the jet ski was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not attempt evasive maneuvers.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Illinois Conservation Police are conducting an ongoing investigation.
