Overview
- Police reported two violent incidents Wednesday evening in the area of the 161st Street–Yankee Stadium subway station in the Bronx.
- At 4:27 p.m. near East 161st Street and River Avenue, an assailant displayed a knife, stole a cellphone, and slashed a 51-year-old man on the hip.
- Around 8:20 p.m. inside the station, a 42-year-old man was stabbed in the torso and taken to a local hospital in stable condition and expected to survive.
- The first victim refused medical attention at the scene, and the suspects in both incidents fled before officers arrived.
