Overview

  • Öko-Test assessed 25 strawberry fruit spreads for its 9/2025 issue, with 17 products rated good or very good and eight earning top marks.
  • Mövenpick Gourmet-Frühstück Erdbeere and Aldi’s Grandessa Erdbeere 75% were graded “mangelhaft” after labs detected eight pesticide residues, including cyprodinil and fludioxonil.
  • Testers also found a captan breakdown product in the Mövenpick sample, and both low performers exceeded 12.5 grams of sugar per 30‑gram serving referenced to WHO guidance.
  • Roughly half of the jars used lid seals with PVC/PVDC or other chlorinated compounds, a packaging concern the magazine has raised before.
  • Under EU labeling rules the products are classified as fruit spreads rather than marmalade or jam, and outlets reported no recalls or enforcement actions linked to the findings.
