Two Spaniards Sentenced for Death of German Tourist on Mallorca Highway

A court in Palma has handed down prison sentences of 15 and 12.5 years for the 2022 death of a German man, ruling the act as manslaughter.

The victim, a 20-year-old German tourist, was thrown from a van onto a highway near Palma in October 2022 and fatally struck by another vehicle.
The court found the two Spanish defendants guilty of manslaughter, with one receiving the maximum sentence of 15 years due to prior convictions and lack of remorse.
The defendants were accused of attempting to rob the intoxicated tourist, who had a blood alcohol level of 2.41 promille at the time of the incident.
The court ordered the convicts to pay nearly €200,000 in compensation to the victim's family, including his parents and sister.
A witness's tip about a white van led to the suspects' arrest a year after the incident, following initial assumptions that the death was an accident.
