Two South Side Shootings Hours Apart Leave 1 Dead, 4 Injured

Area Two detectives are investigating vehicle-linked attacks with no arrests.

Overview

  • Shortly before 12:30 a.m. in West Chatham, someone fired into a moving car on the 8100-block of South Stewart Avenue, injuring three occupants, police said.
  • Two women, ages 21 and 26, and a 25-year-old man self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and were listed in fair condition.
  • Just before 8:30 a.m. in Rosemoor, a 22-year-old woman driving a dark blue Honda SUV was shot at by someone in another vehicle, and her SUV later struck a tree, police said.
  • The driver was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital and pronounced dead, while a 28-year-old male passenger was hospitalized at the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
  • Police said the suspected shooters fled both scenes, no one is in custody, and investigators have released no suspect information or potential motive.
