• Around 4:40 a.m. in Kōka, Shiga, a truck driver reported a fallen motorcycle and a collision on the Shin-Meishin Expressway, and responders confirmed a male rider dead at the scene.
• Shiga Prefectural Police’s highway unit said the rider appears to have fallen for an unknown reason and may have been struck by a following vehicle, with the investigation continuing.
• At about 2:55 p.m. in Mombetsu, Hokkaido, a passerby found a man and his motorcycle on a municipal road and alerted authorities through the fire department.
• The Mombetsu victim was identified as Masatsugu Nabeshima, 56, a fisherman from the city, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
