A quick-thinking caregiver extinguished the flames, but the resident was airlifted to a hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Five care home staff members were also hospitalized for smoke inhalation following the incident.
In Gailingen, a 94-year-old man was critically injured in a house fire and required rescue by ladder before being flown to a specialized clinic.
Both fires remain under investigation by police, with the causes yet to be determined.
