Two Santa Rosa Teens Wounded by Same Bullet in Transit Mall Robbery

Tips are sought for two masked suspects, with a reward of up to $2,500.

Overview

  • Police responded around 6:26 p.m. Sunday to reports of gunfire at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall at 500 Second St.
  • Officers found a 15-year-old with a through-and-through shoulder and mid-back wound, and about 20 minutes later learned a 14-year-old had a waist graze from the same round.
  • Four juveniles waiting for a bus were confronted by two men in dark clothing and ski masks who demanded belongings, and one suspect pistol-whipped the 15-year-old before shooting him.
  • The assailants fled toward Juilliard Park with stolen property; a search using a Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter and a Santa Rosa K-9 unit did not locate them or the firearm.
  • Both teens were treated and released as the investigation continues, and police ask for tips at 707-543-3590 with the department noting an online portal and the reward offer.
