Two San Jose Police Officers Critically Injured in Hotel Shootout

A suspect and two officers were hospitalized following a violent confrontation in a South San Jose hotel, escalating concerns over officer safety.

The shootout occurred late Thursday night after police responded to a disturbance call at an Extended Stay America hotel.
One officer is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the other was treated for moderate injuries and released.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Kevin Briones, also sustained critical injuries after exchanging gunfire with the officers.
Briones, who had prior arrest warrants and a felony record, attempted to flee by jumping from a third-story window.
This incident marks a continued trend of violence against San Jose police, with several officers targeted in the past 15 months.
