  • Two men, ages 80 and 59, were struck around 4:20 a.m. July 11 at 52nd Street and Third Avenue under the Gowanus Expressway and were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
  • A preliminary NYPD Collision Investigation Squad probe determined a dark-colored BMW sedan traveling south on Third Avenue struck the pedestrians before speeding off.
  • Authorities have made no arrests and the Collision Investigation Squad’s investigation into the fleeing driver is ongoing.
  • The NYPD recorded 10 hit-and-run incidents citywide in the first quarter of 2025, most of which remain unsolved.
