Overview

  • A 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg around 1:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Dante Avenue in Grand Crossing.
  • At about 2 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Green Street in Englewood, a female driver was shot in the back and later died at an area hospital.
  • Two passengers in the Englewood vehicle—a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy—were wounded and remain in serious and good condition, respectively.
  • Both incidents occurred within 30 minutes of each other, highlighting an overnight rise in drive-by shootings across Chicago’s South Side this summer.
  • No arrests have been made and Area One detectives are leading the investigation into both shootings.
