Two Overnight Chicago Shootings Leave One Critically Hurt in Lakeview, Another Wounded in the Loop

Police say both cases remain under investigation with no one in custody.

  • Around 9:48 p.m., officers found a 38-year-old man unresponsive on the 2800-block of North Clybourn Avenue in Lakeview with a gunshot wound to the left knee, and he was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition.
  • A witness in the Lakeview incident reported hearing an argument followed by two loud noises before the victim was found.
  • At about 1:13 a.m., a 36-year-old man self-transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after being shot twice in the left thigh in the Loop and was listed in fair condition.
  • The Loop victim told police he felt pain while on the sidewalk on Lake Street between Wabash and Michigan avenues.
  • Chicago police reported no arrests in either case as detectives, including the Belmont Area team, investigated and secured crime scenes on Lake Street.
