Two Officers Allegedly Assaulted as Police Break Up Byford Halloween Party of 400

Court hearings begin today for two attendees charged over the Byford disturbance.

  • WA Police were called just after 9:30pm to a Linton Street North home and dispersed a largely intoxicated crowd of about 400 people, many described as gatecrashers.
  • A 16-year-old girl from Glen Iris was charged with two counts of assaulting a public officer as well as obstructing police and disorderly behaviour, and is set to appear in Perth Children’s Court.
  • A 21-year-old Thornlie man was charged with obstructing police, disorderly behaviour and drug possession; he appeared in Perth Magistrates Court today, with 9News identifying him as Randy Hill.
  • Police issued a move-on order to a 17-year-old as part of the response.
  • Neighbours reported streets littered with bottles and debris and said some partygoers arrived via the newly opened Byford train station, while a state minister said no official link to the rail line had been confirmed.
