Overview

  • Two major wildfires—the Green Fire at over 11,000 acres with 5 percent containment and the Orleans Complex at nearly 6,000 acres with zero containment—are still expanding in Shasta-Trinity National Forest and Del Norte/Siskiyou counties.
  • U.S. Forest Service officials report that persistent triple-digit heat, low humidity and gusty winds are intensifying fire behavior and have led to at least one heat-related illness among firefighters.
  • Fire crews have been bolstered by units from Alameda County and the San Francisco Fire Department to support ground operations.
  • Two Canadian super scooper aircraft are drawing water from Shasta Lake for aerial suppression, and boaters are being urged to stay clear of operational zones.
  • Salmon River Road remains closed and evacuation orders or warnings persist for communities near both fires.
