Two New Suspects Charged in Rapper PnB Rock's Murder Following 2022 Robbery

Newly charged suspects Tremont Jones and Wynisha Evans plead not guilty to involvement in the fatal 2022 robbery of PnB Rock; Jones accused of supplying the murder weapon and leading killers to the rapper's location, while Evans allegedly helped main suspect Freddie Lee Trone evade capture.

  • Two new suspects, Tremont Jones and Wynisha Evans, are facing charges in connection to the 2022 robbery and murder of rapper PnB Rock, with Jones being accused of supplying the murder weapon and Evans allegedly helping the main suspect evade capture.
  • Jones and Evans were arrested in May 2023, with the charges only coming to light in October 2023 due to being filed as a separate case from the main murder case. Both suspects pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned at the Compton Courthouse.
  • Jones allegedly met main suspect Freddie Lee Trone, handing him an object covered in a towel - suspected to be the firearm used for the murder - before Trone's son, wearing a ski mask and armed with the gun, made his way into the restaurant.
  • Evans is accused of assisting Trone flee to Las Vegas after the shooting for safety reasons. She was later released on her own recognizance due to her non-violent charges, as part of the county's new zero-bail policy.
  • Prosecutors believe that contrary to previous suspicion of PnB Rock's location being disclosed through social media, it was Jones who gave the location to the killers. The next hearing in the case is set for December 2023.
