Overview
- The cubs were born on August 4 to seven-year-old tigress Aditi, the zoo’s largest tiger litter in about two decades.
- Three cubs showing signs of infection were moved to the zoo hospital on August 20–21 after another had been admitted on August 15.
- The sick cubs showed weakness, high fever, moist nostrils and refusal to nurse, and they were being hand-reared in isolation.
- Of the two remaining cubs, one is in critical condition and the other is stable on bottle feeding under intensive care.
- The carcasses have been sent to IVRI in Bareilly for post-mortem, and officials say the illness may be viral or haemoprotozoan pending test results.
