Overview
- Both men were last seen on 24 June and had been reported missing separately before searches began.
- Police believe the blue Peugeot 106 left the westbound A584 at about 5:30am on 24 June and are treating the discovery as a collision inquiry.
- Specialist search officers located the car hidden in thick undergrowth shortly after noon on Saturday 4 July and found two deceased males inside; formal identification is pending.
- The SCIU has asked motorists, witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the A584 area around 5:30am on 24 June to contact police to help establish the full circumstances.
- Officers temporarily closed the westbound A584 at the Blackpool Road junction while they examined the scene and specially trained officers are supporting the men’s families as forensic inquiries continue.
