Two Missing Preston Men Found Dead in Car Hidden in Undergrowth

Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has opened an inquiry to establish how the Peugeot left the A584 to collect witness and dashcam evidence.

Overview

  • Specialist search officers found a blue Peugeot 106 concealed in thick undergrowth off the westbound A584 near Newton-with-Clifton shortly after midday on July 4 and discovered two deceased males inside.
  • Police believe the bodies are those of William Hutchinson, 31, and Stuart Tallis, 27, who were last seen separately in Preston in the early hours of June 24, with formal identification still to take place.
  • Investigators estimate the vehicle left the carriageway at about 5.30am on June 24 and have appealed for anyone who saw a blue Peugeot 106 on the A584 in the minutes before that time to come forward.
  • The force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is treating the discovery as a collision inquiry and is asking motorists to check dashcam and CCTV footage that could help reconstruct what happened.
  • Families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, and anyone with information is asked to email SCIU@lancashire.police.uk or call 101 quoting log 613 of July 4.
