Two Minors Denounced Over Rome Minicar Attacks That Left Actor Critically Injured

The Procura di Roma opened a tentato omicidio file and sent the evidence to the juvenile prosecutor to consider custody or educational measures.

Overview

  • Six street assaults carried out from a small minicar in Rome targeted pedestrians, cyclists and e-scooter riders on the nights of Oct. 4 and 5, with actor Davide Iacopini suffering severe head trauma and remaining in intensive care after two operations.
  • Investigators seized a minicar that matched distinctive features seen on CCTV and in victims’ reports, using technical forensics, dozens of camera feeds and a mechanic’s testimony about red LED lights and a red serpent sticker to link the vehicle to the attacks.
  • Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were identified, questioned and denounced by the carabinieri and local police; both reportedly admitted responsibility and said the attacks were done ‘for fun,’ and one is reported to be the vehicle’s owner and the son of a carabiniere.
  • The Procura di Roma charged the case as attempted murder and transferred the file to the juvenile prosecutor, who now decides whether to request measures such as educational obligations, house arrest, community placement or confinement in a juvenile institute.
  • The episodes have raised local alarm about youth violence and the risks posed by minicars—low‑power vehicles that minors may legally drive in Italy—and may prompt scrutiny of parental controls, school interventions and juvenile-case handling in Rome.
