• Inspector Carlos José Queiroz Viana, 59, was shot outside his home in Piratininga around 6:30 a.m. while taking out the trash, according to witnesses.
• CISP cameras tracked the suspects' route from Niterói to Xerém, in Duque de Caxias, where police detained three men.
• Investigators say the vehicle used was cloned and had been burned, and seized firearms had calibers consistent with those used in the killing.
• Two of the detainees are active Military Police officers assigned to the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias) and 3rd BPM (Méier), according to police.
• The homicide unit is treating the case as an execution and has ruled out robbery, and the governor pledged exemplary punishment if wrongdoing is proven.
