Two Men Sentenced to 10 Years for Sexual Assault of Minors in Separate POCSO Cases

A Thane court sentenced a 27-year-old man to 10 years in rigorous imprisonment for raping his eight-year-old niece between 2017 and 2018, revealed after the child learned about 'good touch and bad touch.'
The court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the Thane convict, with the amount directed as compensation to the victim, and dismissed arguments for leniency due to the severity of the crime.
In a separate case, a Mumbai court sentenced a 41-year-old laundry shop owner to 10 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy over two years, from 2015 to 2017.
The trauma from the Mumbai case led the boy to attempt suicide, after which he disclosed the abuse to counselors, prompting his family to file a complaint.
Both courts emphasized the credibility of victim testimonies and rejected defense claims of false accusations, ensuring convictions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
