Two Men Killed, Woman Seriously Wounded in Separate Early-Morning Chicago Shootings

Police assign Area Two and Area Five detectives to separate cases with no arrests reported.

Overview

  • A 37-year-old woman was shot in the thigh and back while in her Pill Hill backyard around 2:40 a.m. and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
  • A 31-year-old man was found one block north of the South Merrill Avenue scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the location.
  • A 39-year-old man was shot in the chest inside a residence in Cragin at about 4:34 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Deming Place and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
  • The Cook County medical examiner had not released the identity of the man found near the South Side scene as of Thursday morning.
  • Area Two detectives are investigating the South Side shooting and Area Five detectives are investigating the Cragin homicide, with no suspects in custody.
