Two Men Charged with Murder of Nurse Karen Cummings in County Down

Karen Cummings, a 40-year-old children's nurse, was found unconscious with a fatal head injury in Banbridge; both suspects have been remanded in custody.

Karen Cummings, a mother of two and nurse at Daisy Hill Hospital, was discovered unconscious with a severe head injury at a residence in Laurel Heights, Banbridge, on Saturday evening and died at the scene.
Glenn Robert King, 32, of no fixed address, and Kevin Paul McGuigan, 42, from Hillsborough, have been charged with her murder and appeared before Newry Magistrates' Court via video link on Wednesday.
McGuigan faces additional charges, including possession of a double-barrelled shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, as well as handling stolen goods related to the firearm.
Neither defendant applied for bail, and their next court appearance is scheduled for January 9, 2025, via video link.
A vigil to honor Karen Cummings is planned for Thursday evening in Solitude Park, Banbridge, reflecting the community's grief and support for her family.
