Overview

• Police were called about 5:40pm to a Broadway hotel after reports of offensive yelling at passers-by and a brawl inside the bar.
• A 48-year-old allegedly assaulted a male constable, and a 29-year-old allegedly attacked the officer during an attempted arrest.
• Officers deployed capsicum spray near the entrance, and both men fled before being arrested after a short foot pursuit.
• The men were charged with affray, assaulting a police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, and hindering or resisting police.
• They were taken to Surry Hills and Day Street stations, refused bail to face court on Monday, and police say the officer sustained minor injuries.
