  • A stolen blue BMW was chased by Northumbria Police along the A1231 before it ploughed into Highcliffe Care Home in Witherwack at about 9.40pm on July 9
  • Two residents—a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 80s—died on July 10 and eight other residents were taken to hospital with non–life-threatening injuries
  • Sam Asgari-Tabar and Reece Parish, both 21, have been charged with robbery and kidnap while Asgari-Tabar also faces a count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Northumbria Police has lodged a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct to examine whether pursuit procedures contributed to the crash
  • Avery Healthcare has evacuated Highcliffe Care Home and moved its residents to alternative accommodation to ensure uninterrupted care
