Two Men Charged in Murder of Oakland Police Officer

Sanders, who is suspected of being the gunman, was also charged with special circumstances and special allegations, which could lead to a life sentence without parole if it is proven he knew Le was a police officer.
A third man, Sebron Ray Russell, has been charged with participating in the series of burglaries that Le and other officers were investigating when Le was shot and killed.
Sanders and Russell both have criminal records, having pleaded no contest in 2022 to burglarizing a home where marijuana was being grown.
