Two Men Charged in Huron Township Sexual Assault After Victim Escapes

Investigators credit FLOCK camera data with identifying a second suspect ahead of a Nov. 12 court date.

Overview

  • Albert Joseph Knapp Jr. of Huron Township and Stanley James Mason of Pontiac were charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration as habitual offenders.
  • Both suspects were arraigned and received $75,000 bonds at 10% cash or surety, with GPS tethers required if either posts bond.
  • Police say the woman reported on Oct. 29 that she was invited to a home in the 22000 block of Castelle Street, was held against her will, and repeatedly assaulted before escaping around late morning.
  • Detectives executed search warrants and arrested Knapp at the residence, then used the FLOCK license-plate camera system to identify Mason, who was arrested in Oakland County.
  • A probable-cause hearing for both defendants is scheduled for Nov. 12.
