Two Men Charged in France for Alleged Plot to Join Jihadist Brigade in Syria

The suspects, aged 19 and 24, were arrested near Lyon and accused of planning to join Omar Diaby's extremist group using encrypted platforms.

The suspects, a 19-year-old Turkish national and a 24-year-old Frenchman, were arrested by the DGSI in Ain on March 18, 2025.
Both men have been charged with 'association de malfaiteurs terroriste criminelle'; the younger suspect is in pre-trial detention, while the older is under judicial supervision.
Investigators found the suspects planned to travel to Syria via Turkey or Jordan and were in contact with Bilal Diaby, son of jihadist recruiter Omar Diaby.
The 19-year-old suspect was identified as the leader, having recently renewed his passport and managed a pro-jihadist Telegram channel.
