Two Men Charged in Fatal Pennsylvania School Van Crash

Authorities allege the drivers were racing, turning their vehicles into 'deadly weapons', resulting in the death of a teenager and injuring five others.

  • Two Pennsylvania men, William Soliday II and Andrew Voigt, are charged in a fatal crash involving a school van that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Samantha Lee Kalkbrenner and injured five others.
  • The crash occurred on Sept. 20 in Dravosburg when a sedan, allegedly racing with another vehicle, struck a Serra Catholic High School van attempting to make a left turn.
  • Authorities believe the two drivers were racing and that the vehicle had been turned 'into a deadly weapon.' The first car is believed to have been traveling more than 100 mph just before the crash.
  • Soliday, whose car struck the van, is charged with criminal homicide, vehicular homicide, and multiple counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangering. Voigt, whose vehicle entered the intersection moments after the crash, is charged with accidents involving death or injury and reckless endangering.
  • Both men, who worked at the same place nearby, are charged with racing on highways. Soliday's attorney claims his client has no memory of the crash due to head trauma, while Voigt's attorney described the situation as 'very shocking.'
