Overview

  • The Kiskatinaw River fire (263 square kilometres) and the Pocket Knife Creek blaze (more than 1,500 square kilometres) lost “fire of note” status after crews declared both held.
  • The 800 square-kilometre Summit Creek wildfire continues to burn out of control as the province’s only remaining fire of note.
  • Fire crews in the northeast have relied on recent heavy rain to bolster containment efforts and prevent further spread.
  • The BC Wildfire Service reports about 85 active wildfires burning across British Columbia.
  • Meteorologists forecast cooler temperatures and showers from Friday into the weekend, easing fire conditions in central and northern regions.
