Two Lima-Area Shootings: Teen Suspects Held in Mi Perú, Driver Wounded in VMT

Investigations continue, with teen suspects detained in Mi Perú and residents urging stronger patrols under an extended state of emergency.

  • In Mi Perú (Callao), a man was seriously wounded near Parque Central in sector J and three adolescents were detained after a pursuit, according to the district mayor.
  • Authorities reported finding a firearm inside the motorcycle intercepted on Avenida Gambetta, and the three detainees are ages 16 and 17.
  • The Mi Perú victim was first taken to Hospital de Ventanilla and later transferred to Hospital de Puente Piedra for specialized care.
  • In a separate attack in Villa María del Triunfo, Omar Rodríguez Franco was shot while driving with his son, then stopped near the Pumacahua station to seek help.
  • Serenazgo transported the VMT victim to Hospital María Auxiliadora as the attackers fled by motorcycle and National Police officers collected evidence at the scene.
