Two Liberty High Students Killed in Brentwood Crash

The California Highway Patrol is investigating contested claims about police involvement as the school opens counseling services for students and staff.

Overview

  • Two Liberty High students died and two others were injured after a two-vehicle collision just after midnight on Sunday near Deer Valley Road and Balfour Road on the Antioch–Brentwood boundary.
  • Police reported the crash involved a white BMW and a silver Infiniti, with two people in the Infiniti pronounced dead at the scene and the Infiniti’s third occupant plus the BMW driver taken to hospital.
  • CHP says there was no active pursuit at the time of the collision.
  • Antioch police said the BMW had been wanted in connection with a separate pursuit days earlier, and investigators have asked the public for witnesses and dashcam or surveillance footage to aid the probe.
  • Liberty High confirmed three of the four people involved were current students, the school is withholding names pending family notification, and counselors and district support staff are available on campus as the community grieves.
