Three Killed in Separate Nighttime Crashes in Spain, Including Train Derailment in Salamanca

  • An 81-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Santa Comba around 21:00 on Sunday, despite resuscitation efforts.
  • Around 00:06 on Monday, a 51-year-old from Outeiro de Rei was killed when his van left a rural track near the N-640 in Castro de Rei and overturned.
  • At about 03:02, a 54-year-old truck driver died after his vehicle left the A-62 near Carrascal de Barregas, overturned onto a railway, and was hit by a freight train that derailed.
  • Emergency services including 112 centers, Guardia Civil, Protección Civil, firefighters and medical teams responded to all three incidents and confirmed the deaths at the scenes.
  • Authorities and rail operator Adif have opened investigations and are managing resulting road restrictions and rail service disruptions.
