Overview

• The lorry ML05 L 4368 collided head-on with a Department of Sports and Youth Affairs Bolero ML01 7455 near Umsawnongkharai at about 8 pm on Sunday.
• Preliminary findings indicate the lorry swerved across lanes as the Bolero was traveling toward Shillong and the truck toward Guwahati.
• Bolero driver Sanbirth M. Momin and passenger Smart Sangma died, while Nilkash M. Momin, lorry driver Anil Dorjee, and handyman Bibash Thapa were injured.
• Police reached the scene promptly, opened an investigation, and cleared a temporary traffic disruption on the highway.
• Two days earlier, four teenage girls were killed in a separate Ri-Bhoi crash, and authorities say the truck’s driver Ferlindes Rymbai and handyman Dwayne Dkhar will be arrested after hospital discharge.
