Two Killed as Ultralight Crashes Near Entrepierres in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence

A prosecutor-led inquiry with the BEA now seeks to determine the cause following the 8:48 radar loss.

  • The ultralight departed Fayence on Monday morning with two people aboard before disappearing from radar over Entrepierres at 8:48.
  • On ARCC advice, the prefecture activated the SATER Charlie plan to launch coordinated terrestrial searches in the identified area.
  • Rescuers deployed a gendarmerie helicopter (Choucas 04), an army helicopter, gendarmes and firefighters, mobilizing about twenty personnel.
  • The wreckage was located around 11:00 in difficult-to-access terrain, where both occupants were found deceased.
  • The Sisteron gendarmerie is conducting the investigation under prosecutor Antoine Pesme in liaison with the BEA, with identities and causes pending official findings.
