Overview

• Deputies spotted the Chrysler Town & Country near Floyd Hill after reports tied the 29-year-old driver to roughly 25 vehicle break-ins in Summit and Eagle counties, including a stolen firearm.
• The suspect briefly drove the wrong way on I-70 during a construction hold that limited eastbound traffic before turning around and encountering stop sticks at the Exit 244 off-ramp.
• With tires deflated, the minivan reentered U.S. 6, lost control just past Tunnel 6, and crossed into westbound lanes, striking a Lexus RX350 that rolled into Clear Creek.
• The Lexus driver was airlifted and later pronounced dead, the suspect died at the scene, and a 27-year-old passenger from the minivan sustained minor injuries.
• Three Jefferson County patrol vehicles crashed while responding, injuring at least one deputy, and the Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crime Unit is investigating as the coroner prepares to release identities.
